Online Bingo is a Hit in the UK
Bingo has always been one of the world's most beloved gambling games (for hundreds of years, in one form or another). Now, thanks to the advent of online gambling in general and online bingo in particular, bingo is one of the most popular leisure activities in the UK (in certain age groups it's the most popular activity). Loads of UK online casinos are adding bingo to their repertoires and the online bingo market is one of the fastest growing Internet gambling sub-sectors around. Thousands of UK bingo fans sit down at their computers every day to play online bingo, making it the fastest growing Internet gambling game in Great Britain.
Bingo in the UK was legalized and regulated in the 1960s. Clubs for playing bingo proved very popular in the UK and by the 1980s, bingo became big business. The industry kept growing, and by the end of the 1990s bingo brand names such as Mecca and Gala were well known in the UK, even to those who didn't play. The game of bingo took another giant step in the UK when it made the move to the Internet, around 2003. Both 90-ball and 75-ball games are available on UK gambling Web sites and bingo is currently one of the most popular forms of online entertainment in the world.
90-Ball Bingo is the UK Favorite
90-Ball Bingo is the bingo game traditionally played in Great Britain. The game is similar to 75-ball bingo, but in England, players buy strips of six tickets (which is what cards are called in the UK), then mark the numbers that are called (by the bingo caller) and hope to be the first player who correctly completes the winning pattern. Although the basics of the two games - American 75-ball bingo and UK 90-ball bingo - are the same, there are a number of differences.
90-Ball UK bingo cards have three rows and nine columns. In 90-ball bingo, each card has three horizontal lines and nine columns. Each line contains five numbers, meaning each card has 15 numbers, but since the cards are sold in strips of six, that makes 90 numbers in all. The first column contains numbers from 1-9, the second column contains numbers from 10-19, the third column contains numbers from 20-29, all the way through to the final column which contains numbers from 80-90.
The bingo winning patterns are always the same and there are usually three patterns in each game and each pattern goes with a prize for the winner. The patterns include a single line across, two lines across (which is called a two-liner), and a full house (either three lines or a full card). 90-ball bingo may have more numbers, which makes it harder to win, but it gives players more chances to win, as there are a number of winners in each round. Cheers to UK bingo!
